BUSTER AND WHISKERS

You want to dress up your pup to protect them from the elements and ensure that they stay dry and comfortable, no matter the weather. Plus, it’s also fun. But before going on a shopping spree for the latest puppy style trends, it is best to take your dog’s measurements to ensure that the clothes won’t be too tight, too loose, or too long. Because puppies in sweaters are trending as the weather gets colder and winter comes, you want to ensure that wearing clothing doesn’t become a hassle for your pup if the pieces don’t fit properly.  Here are some tips on how to properly measure your dog for clothing, harnesses, and dog rain jackets, while keeping up with the latest puppy style.

There are certain breeds of dogs with thin fur that require protection from harsh climates. Hypothermia can be an issue that shouldn’t be neglected. Not only should your pup have sweaters and other stylish clothing. Your pup should also have a raincoat for rainy days to help keep them dry, clean, and comfy.

Measuring Your Pooch for the Perfect Fit

Just like when you measure yourself before buying clothes or discover a luxury car service, the body parts of your pup need to be measured for the perfect puppy style fit. These body parts include the neck, the chest, and the back from the neck all the way down to the start of the tail. And just like people, dogs do not come in small, medium, large, or extra-large measurements only. Some may have small legs, but also a large chest. Or a small neck and medium chest, but long legs. It is important to properly measure your dog. And not just for stylish puppy sweaters, but also for harnesses, collars, and other safety gear.

Measuring the Neck Circumference or Girth

Place the measuring tape just above or between the shoulder blades and around the top of the chest. This measurement is the same as when fitting a collar. As a general rule, two fingers should be able fit under the collar. This ensures that the collar is not too tight or too loose. When buying clothes or coats, it is better to buy something that is a bit loose on the neck rather than tight.

Measuring Chest Circumference

This is the largest part of a dog’s body. To measure, place the measuring tape just behind either of the front legs. Then wrap it around the chest, look more at https://jadoreboudoirphotography.com/. Again, slip two fingers in to the tape measure for a perfect fit, not too tight or too loose.

Measuring the Length of the Back

Place the measuring tape at the base of the neck where the collar is. Measure the length of the spine down to the base of the tail. For male dogs, it’s best to buy the item a little shorter to prevent the clothing from becoming wet from their urine.

These measurements are good for different clothing and gears, such as dog rain jackets, winter coats, harnesses, and other cute puppy style fashion trends. Have fun dressing up your stylish pup and make them one of the many adorable puppies in sweaters!
